A 36-year-old man tragically died in a hotel jacuzzi in Ixtapa. His last words were revealed by his wife and his last moments were recorded by his son.
A family afternoon ended in tragedy: a father died in front of his wife and children at an Ixtapa hotel.
A planned summer vacation turned devastating. An incident inside the family suite left those still seeking justice without answers. What seemed like a laughable joke was actually the beginning of an unexpected emergency.
The Carreón family had traveled to Ixtapa with the intention of relaxing for a few days at the beach. Staying in a villa at the PacÃfica Resort Ixtapa, they had spent four days enjoying the weather and the ocean. However, one night, the Jacuzzi in their room became the scene of a tragedy that is now under investigation.
The first signs of danger
On the night of July 22, EstefanÃa López, her husband Sagid Carreón, and their children decided to use the private jacuzzi in their suite. Things seemed normal until Sagid made a comment that puzzled everyone:
“We thought it was a joke and started laughing, but he said ‘no seriously, I feel shocks’ and I get up, put my foot in the jacuzzi and sure enough I feel a shock. I was wearing an anklet and I felt the water pull on the anklet and I immediately took my foot out and asked him (Sagid) to get out.”

According to EstefanÃa, the jacuzzi lights were on and the hydromassage system was still on. They quickly turned it off, but the risk was already present. “My husband stood on the edge of the jacuzzi and told my son to call maintenance,” she recalled .
Still unaware of the seriousness of the situation, EstefanÃa asked one of her sons to record what was happening. In the video, Sagid is seen standing, holding onto the railing, waiting for the hotel staff to arrive. Tensions began to rise as the minutes passed.

A wait that changed the course of events
It took the maintenance crew 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. During that time, Sagid tried to get out of the hot tub on his own. That’s when the unexpected happened.
“When he tried to jump, halfway into the jacuzzi, the shock hit him. He immediately fell,” his wife explained .
The family’s reaction was immediate. “It didn’t take my mother-in-law a second to get him out. As soon as she got him out, I started giving him CPR. I didn’t stop until the lifeguard and two maintenance people arrived,” EstefanÃa recounted . But the conditions weren’t right: “The lifeguard was carrying a fibrillator that wasn’t working.”

The family claims that there was no doctor at the hotel at the time of the incident. This absence, coupled with the failure of the defibrillator, increased the helplessness of the family members trying to save Sagid.
The hotel’s diagnosis and reaction
An autopsy confirmed that Sagid, 36, died of an acute myocardial infarction caused by electrocution. He was on vacation with his family and, according to sources, had no medical history that would explain his sudden death.

Six days after the incident, PacÃfica Resort Ixtapa posted an official statement on its Instagram account, expressing regret over the “serious passing of one of our guests.” In the message, they added :
“From the very beginning, we have actively collaborated with the relevant authorities, who are now conducting the necessary investigations to clarify what happened.”

The hotel stated that it “operates under the highest standards of safety, maintenance, and service” and reiterated its “commitment to transparency, accountability, and the well-being” of its community. However, the Carreón family believes the actions have been insufficient, and they demand clarification of the events.
EstefanÃa stated that they had experienced problems with their villa since arriving at the hotel. Although the Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation, the family indicates that the corresponding expert reports have not yet been conducted.
The last words that resonate
The phrase Sagid repeated before the end has become a reminder of the moment that changed his family’s life: “I feel touches.” What began as a warning turned into a tragedy before the eyes of his wife and children.
The minutes leading up to the incident, recorded on video by one of the minors, have provided key evidence about what happened. This footage, along with EstefanÃa’s testimony, is part of the evidence the family hopes will be taken into account in the investigation.
Meanwhile, the family continues to call for the necessary steps to be taken to clarify what happened and prevent a similar case from happening again in other tourist areas. Watch the video here .
