According to the Lubbock Police Department , the accident occurred at 1:09 a.m. at the intersection of 64th Street and Milwaukee Avenue in the southwest corner of the city. Two passenger vehicles collided at that point.

Alexandra Ordaz was a passenger in a car driven by 28-year-old Ruiz Pardo. Both were ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Alexandra was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ruiz Pardo died shortly afterward at the hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, identified as 34-year-old Jimmy Janssen, was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to University Medical Center. According to authorities , Janssen was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, while Pardo was traveling southbound and attempting to turn into a parking lot when the collision occurred. After the crash, the car in which Ordaz and Pardo were traveling crashed into a utility pole.

Alexandra Ordaz had three minor daughters

Alexandra “Allie” Ordaz had three daughters : a 13-year-old teenager, a three-year-old daughter, and a nine-month-old baby. Her oldest daughter, Addyson Pullum, publicly shared the pain of losing her mother.

“It’s hard knowing that he won’t be here, that he won’t be here to see me become a freshman next year. It’s disorienting knowing that he won’t be here to see me graduate,” she said . The teenager also recounted the difficulty of caring for her younger sisters while she grieved for herself:

“I kept asking myself, ‘Where’s my mom?’ and ‘I want my mom back,’ and it’s hard to tell her that Mom isn’t coming back. It’s been hard for me to deal with them, and for me too. I don’t know how to handle it. I have two younger sisters that I have to help raise, grow with, and keep on track.”

On social media, journalist Ryan Wolf also mentioned the special bond Alexandra had with her daughters: “I was on my way to the store: now three little girls, ages 13, 3, and just 7 months, starting the school year without their mom. Allie’s smile could light up any room, and her love for her daughters was endless. Now they face life’s most important moments without her by their side.”

The family unites for their daughters

Alexandra’s family has praised her character and presence within a large family. Greg Acosta, Allie’s older brother, explained that everyone is supporting each other. “She rocked our world. I know we’re not the world, but she was our world, my little sister,” he said . “It’s been hard for everyone to stay motivated, especially my mom.”

Alexandra’s loved ones described her as a sweet, cheerful, and energetic woman. They assured them that they will keep her spirit alive as they face this painful process. The family has focused their efforts on ensuring the girls’ well-being and covering funeral expenses.

On August 12, they held a brisket sale at the intersection of 63rd Street and Upland, and also launched an online collection for donations. The goal, they reported, is to ensure Alexandra’s three daughters are cared for and can continue their education in a safe environment.

Social media users call for both victims to be remembered.

After the details of the accident became known, several social media users expressed their feelings about what happened. Some emphasized that it should be acknowledged that two lives were lost, not just one.

“Ruiz was a good man and a father. He leaves behind a young son. Please consider donating for his funeral expenses and those of his son as well. My thoughts are with both victims and their families at this time,” one Facebook user commented on August 12.

Another message read : “Condolences to his babies and family, but most importantly: Rest in peace, Ruiz Pardo. I will miss you so much. I will love you and cherish every moment we spent together in my life.” A third comment remembered Ruiz from a close emotional perspective: “Let’s not forget my friend Ruiz, who has a son who will no longer be able to spend time with his dad. I will miss you forever, Ruiz Pardo.”

The tragedy that occurred in Lubbock continues to leave a deep mark on those who knew the victims. The families now face a difficult path, marked by grief, but also by the support of those who have shown solidarity through concrete gestures.
